Strawberries!

In our quest to become more self-reliant, we planted several raspberry and strawberry plants. Our raspberries are looking like they won't survive the summer :(. However, our effort to cultivate the earth was a success with our strawberry plants! There are several small berries ripening, and though small, they are delicious!

We split this lone berry into three pieces and we each enjoyed a bite. Not enough to survive on if needed, but we were so excited to have grown something tasty in our backyard!

So best case is that we get a handful of ripe fruit by fall. Baby steps people, we are first time gardeners! Our grass is also coming along, it was very patchy at first, and still needs to thicken up, but it's looking better!
