Baby Love

I have the best baby EVER!! We are on day 3 of Hailey sleeping through the night! I was worried about trying to put her on a schedule this early, and we haven't really monitored her naps during the day, but we try and keep her awake from 6 p.m. onward. She now falls asleep around 10-10:30 sometimes 11 and then she is out for the whole night! Can you believe it!?! What a blessing! So this Thanksgiving, I will be giving much thanks for my beautiful baby, our family's well being and SLEEP!

Her two month appointment was last week. She is 11 lbs, 14 ounces, 22.75 inches long, and "looks great"! We are now getting ready to schedule her immunizations...wish me luck!

Mommy Confessions

1.) NO, I have not lost my baby weight. In fact, I've only lost half...I still have 20 lbs to go! Pathetic? Maybe. Hmm...gym membership for Christmas?

2.) YES, I actually stuffed my bra with washcloths after realizing too late that I was out of nursing pads. I even went to the grocery store wearing my new contraption...and didn't care!!

3.) Last week I showered THREE TIMES. I haven't done that since Young Women Girl's camp in 2001.

4.) I called Kyle to come home early from work one day just so he could give me a break from baby duty.

5.) I ate popcorn for dinner four nights this week.

6.) R-E-T-A-I-L T-H-E-R-A-P-Y! I bought three pairs of shoes in one shopping trip.(Don't worry hunny, I got a good deal...) Shoes are my new obsession until I get my before-baby body back.

7.) I stayed up until 4 a.m. one morning after Hailey went to sleep just to catch up on the blogs and facebook. It's the most 'social networking' I've had in awhile.

8.) I haven't been to Relief Society since Hailey was born. I miss it- I really do!!

I do have a few accomplishments. I've been able to keep our house semi-clean since I'm home all day. Plus it creeps me out to have a dirt everywhere with my baby in the house. I also successfully made several dinners for Kyle and have extra meals for the freezer.

My greatest achievement up to date?...I'm still breastfeeding after two infections...come on, you know its not easy!

Here's to the HOLIDAYS!!!

No longer a newborn...

Hailey is growing like crazy these days! We can't wait to see how big she has gotten at her 2 month appointment! We hit a milestone yesterday--Hailey slept in her crib for the first time last night. I was checking the baby monitor every ten minutes for the first hour afraid that it was going to get bumped and turn off. It turned out to be a great success! She slept for 6 hours straight!! (which means I got 5 hours sleep all at ONCE! I didn't realize how much I missed sleep!) Here are a few big girl pictures!

Veterans Shout Out!!

I'm fairly sure I don't have any Veterans reading my blog but nonetheless I would feel more than ungrateful if I didn't pay homage to all military personnel, who have served and currently serve our country on this 11th of November.

THANK YOU!

From Fox News 11/11/2009:

For 90 years, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month has been a remembrance of those who served America in time of war.

But the Nov. 11 Veterans Day commemoration began as a day to celebrate peace — the silencing of the guns of World War I, "The Great War," which claimed the lives of more than 15 million soldiers and civilians.

On that day in 1918, at the 11th hour, Germany signed an armistice with the Allied Powers — including the U.S., France, Britain, Japan and Italy — ending major hostilities in a war that nearly wiped out a generation of men.

A full peace was concluded the next year in France at the Palace of Versailles, and the first Armistice Day was proclaimed and celebrated by President Woodrow Wilson on the anniversary of the ceasefire: Nov. 11, 1919.

It was fully established by Congress as a legal holiday in 1938.

But Armistice Day honored veterans of only World War I, essentially ignoring millions of soldiers who served in peacetime or fought in World War II, Korea and other engagements.

So in 1954 Congress extended the holiday to honor all vets, giving it the name Veterans Day, which it has kept for 55 years.

On pillar'd brass shall tell their praise;
Shall tell - when cold neglect is dead -
'These for their country fought and bled."

October Pics!

Here are some recent pictures of the last couple weeks.

Kyle loves the time he gets to spend with Hailey. She likes to curl up and lay on his chest like this; so cute!

Our Halloween pumpkins before...

and after...!!

Hailey with her pumpkin-

I'm pretty sure my daughter thinks I'm ridiculous already. Haha look at that face!

Here are my attempts at capturing a smile on film! I was always a second too late.

4 Week Stats!

Weight: 9 lbs 5 oz (75 % for age group)
Height: 20 inches (75% for age group)

Hailey's checkup went great! She is growing, gaining weight and filling out those cheeks! She is squirming a lot more these days and enjoys being awake and staring at our faces for long periods of time. She grunts and groans to tell us she is upset or having indigestion. She is overall a very calm baby, and often sighs to show her contentment. Her bedtime is all over the place, but she does sleep 3-4 hours at a time in the evening. Occasionally after her 4 a.m. feeding she wants to stay up and hang out. I'm not sure how to convince her that she should go back to sleep. So we have VERY early starts to our day. Daddy got the first smile out of her this last week and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!!!! There is nothing like realizing your baby is happy under your care. I hope we see more of her smiles as she grows! Last night I could swear I heard her laugh out loud in her sleep. Just one loud giggle then she was silent again....how funny!

Hailey definitely knows when she is being held and when she is alone in a room. I'm constantly trying to soothe her from the kitchen by talking out loud to her while I'm cooking/cleaning etc. Although tiring, it is sweet to see how she calms down once I pick her up after she's been fussing and crying. She also likes to be entertained. She loves her swing and staring at the plush fish that hang above her head. She'll silently stare up at me when I talk and sing to her. She seems to know when she is getting attention.

Hailey has a bad case of 'baby acne'. It looks like a bad rash all over her face, chest and head but the doctor confirmed that it was simply acne that should disappear within a few weeks. Hopefully she gets all that acne out now rather than getting it as a teenager! :)

We love watching how she grows and the new things she does each week! Way to go our little bug, we love you!

'little pumpkin'

Today we went to the pumpkin patch! I dragged Kyle out of bed after only a few hours of sleep (thanks to his night job) to keep with our family tradition of picking pumpkins from the field! I made a good dessert for him afterward to make up for his lost naping...

We put all 9 lbs of Hailey into a front carrier and she fell asleep within minutes of being in it. So she likes it! We didn't stay long-- just a short trip to pick up a few pumpkins and take Fall photos!

Later I met up with some girlfriends/past roommates and had a fun lunch before the BYU football game. Overall a great day, which was desperately needed after my second run of infection from nursing (aka: Mastitis!). I had just finished my antibiotics from my first infection and flu when the second one hit--YUCK! I am now recovered....and praying for a halt in illness. Doesn't my immune system know I have a 1 month old to care for!?!

Haha...
