Hailey is as active as ever! She mostly enjoys activities that involve using large motor skills, like throwing balls, building blocks, dancing, jumping and running. I have noticed that as she has grown older, her interest in smaller activities has increased. She will sit and color for about 5-minutes at a time, and play chef with her kitchen items a little at a time. However, after not long she dumps everything out and kicks them across the room. Ugh.
Some of her less-desirable toddler traits have been her stubbornness and independence. She can't put her clothes on, brush her hair, or tie her shoes, but don't think for a minute she'll let YOU do it! We had World War III the other day trying to get Hailey into a shirt and pants. Sadly, bribes have become a common tool in our home.
Hailey is a sweetie though. Although fiercely independent, she is good natured and has a good heart. She loves each and every one of her stuffed animals and dolls. She gives kisses and hugs to them more often than to her mom and dad! She will even kiss the cartoon animals on her board books! She is slightly dependent on one pink bear she received the day she was born from her Papa Carlson. She always goes back to her "bear bear" after playing with other toys during the day.
Much of what we love and find so funny about Hailey is in her expressions and actions. She no longer cries when she falls off her chair, bumps her head on the counter, or looses a toy. Instead, she covers her face in her hands and finds a spot to sulk quietly to herself until she feels better. It makes me sad that she doesn't want her mommy to hold and give her kisses anymore, but she's learning to deal with her disappointments. She'll come back quickly just as cheerful as before! She also loves to make silly faces with daddy, sing songs, and dance, dance, dance! She is becoming a social girl, if not spoiled by all the attention she gets!
She is happiest in the mornings and right after naptime. Sleep can do amazing things for children...! She is a good eater, although is taking it slow with the vegetables. After her daddy introduced her to ketchup, she has a love of sauces and dipping anything in it! We had cooked carrots for dinner, and Hailey ate them only after she got a bit of ketchup to dip them in! Gross, haha!
We love, love, love her and her sunny disposition. She has a sweet smile, and finds happiness in almost everything in life! We think she'll make a great older sister!
